The first record of the South Notts country being hunted is in 1677 by the
Earl of Lincoln. In 1775 it was hunted by John Musters and it was his great- grandson who re-established it in 1860. It then became Lord Harringtons Hounds as he owned them from 1882-1917.
In the early days hounds were often kennelled at the Masters residence. The South Notts kennels have been at Annesley, Thurgarton, Elvaston, Gedling and are now located at Epperstone.
The country is split between Notts and Derbys and offers different challenges for horse, rider and hounds. Visitors and children are always welcome.
